Every Couple That I’ve Shipped: Pete & Peggy - Mad Men
“You. I’ve been thinking about everything that’s going on. And I thought…Who’d care if I was gone? I mean, Trudy would care, but she doesn’t know me. But you do. And I know you. And I think you’re perfect.”
”I’m not perfect, Pete.”
”Yes, you are. And I wish I picked you then. I love you. And I want to be with you. What? Didn’t you know that?”
”I could have had you in my life forever if I wanted to.”

Pete Campbell: Peggy, dear, I think I understand what this is about, but you’re not being professional right now.
Peggy Olson: I cannot believe I am in this conversation.
Pete: You think this is easy for me?
Peggy: I don’t know. I don’t know if you like me, or if you don’t like me. I’m just trying to get along here. And every time I walk by, I wonder if you’re going to be nice to me, or cruel.
Pete: Cruel? What am I supposed to say? I’m married.
Peggy: Yes, I know. And I heard all about how confusing that can be. Maybe you need me to lay on your couch to clear that up for you again.
Pete: That’s some imagination you’ve got. Good thing you’re a writer now. What do you need me for?—From Season 1, Episode 10, “The Long Weekend”
It just made me ship Pete and Peggy even more than I already do. When Pete shows Peggy into his office, I was like, “Oh snap, he’s gonna tell her.” I mean, look at his face!
And then…gah! He tells her! And it’s so adorable!
“I love you. And I want to be with you.”
And then Peggy was all like, “Nooooo! I had your baby and then GAVE IT AWAY.” And she LEFT. And then my heart broke.
MY EMOTIOOOOOOONS. Can’t wait to start season 3!

This scene is spectacular. Elisabeth Moss, Pete’s single tear. She got the SAG nom but she should’ve been nominated for the Emmy and Golden Globe too.

I just erased three paragraphs I wrote about how absolutely perfect and heartbreaking and beautiful the acting and writing of this scene is, but I could not adequately express myself. Just look at their faces. The warmth in his eyes and her sad smile. Brilliant.
